Chapter 1
Chief Warrant Officer Hazard Blackhawk walked into the briefing 5 minutes late and not all surprised that Major Jared Bartlet had already started the meeting. As he slid into his seat the major put a picture of a woman on the screen; she was pretty, not knock you down beautiful but pretty. There was something about her eyes that drew him in and made him want to know more about her.
The Major starts, "They call her Maverick, but her real name is Delilah Moon-Hunter. She's worked with the Agency, the FBI, and the NSA. The DEA have used her skills as well. She is a computer genius, gentlemen, and so far knows no match. All the big Fortune 500 Companies want her, are actually fighting over her it's more than a competition between them. Some of those companies have resorted to fear tactics and violence to get to her. The underhanded dealings of these companies know no end. We've also discovered this last week that Rah-Taimra is after her. They think they can use her to their advantage. Everyone thinks they can use her and she is balking, like most of the human race she'd like a little say in where and who she works for. She likes working for us… meaning her country. Everything she's participated in thus far has been heavily in our country's favor. She came to the president's attention after saving the Pentagon's mainframe… the one that house a lot of the highly top secret information… locations of agents and informants, etc. She found the problem by accident, tripping over the back door while doing work for a client, namely the CIA. The President wants her working with the government, namely with us. When she saved the Pentagon's ass, someone must have traced her because for the last 10 days she's suffered 4 attempts on her life. It started with an elevator; she was riding down from the 4th floor at the college she attends when it plummeted to the ground floor. She was banged and bruised up, minor concussion. A day and a half later, some one did a hit and run number on her, sending her flying 50ft down the street. No broken bones, but a lot more bruising and a little heavier concussion. They let two days pass then their next attempt was at the school again, they shoved her down two flights of stairs during a fire alarm. Personally I am surprised she's able to even stand on her feet now let alone think and operate as well as she has been. Some one also smashed into her at an intersection sending her car careening into the nearby woods, the prowler was a total write-off. What wasn't damaged by the initial hit, was when it ran into the trees. Now the last attack happened at her gym… it went almost undetected at an attempt on her life. She was in the second floor spa tub having just filled it up relaxing after a hard workout when the floor gave out under the tub and she and the tub of water plummeted to the floor below. A very conscientious CSI discovered the floor had been deliberately weakened, a little sawing, a little acid, all-leading to the tub falling down. I'm sure you get the picture. Our mission is to protect her, find and eliminate those threatening her, and recruit her for Team Phoenix. Stinger has been working with her in coming up with a plausible cover the fits into her lifestyle. To that end, you gentlemen are going back to school, Virginia Eastern University, where our mark is currently enrolled. The Dean of Students at the Presidents insistence has implemented at new curriculum for certain degrees. One of you is transferring in with the same schedule she has, including the new classes. The rest of you will be taking the new classes, as they will also be helpful in your future career choices, not to mention your current one. All of the classes have to do with criminal behavior, criminology, even profiling. Enjoy the classes. Some of you have been asking for them and I've found a way to work them in so that you don't loose any field time; keep on your toes, this woman is important. During the class, the dean will come in with the information that your dorm has burned down, Maverick who lives in a large house will offer to let you all room with her till you can find another place to stay. She's used her home as a bed and breakfast before so renting you all rooms isn't an impossibility. Class starts at 5pm tonight, get your supplies and books, be there, I'm the instructor and I am going to enjoy this.
